Project Overview
Right Group played an integral role in the Ballyvolane Pumpstation project, key infrastructure within Irish Water’s ongoing commitment to enhancing wastewater management. GEDA Construction served as the main contractor, overseeing the project’s execution. This initiative was designed to address the efficient transfer of wastewater from the Ballyvolane area to the North Ring Road / Youghal Road junction.
Scope of the Contract
The project’s principal elements included the construction of a Wastewater Pumping Station (WWPS) equipped with the following key components:
- Wet well with a minimum of 2 submersible pumps to efficiently handle wastewater.
- An emergency overflow screen to prevent system overflows.
- A dry valve chamber for control and operation of the station.
- An emergency storage tank equipped with Venturi-type mixers for effective wastewater treatment.
- A kiosk structure to house control panels and monitoring systems.
- A wet kiosk for system maintenance and accessibility.
- Provision for a water supply to facilitate cleaning and maintenance.
- A vent stack with an odour filter featuring replaceable medium to mitigate environmental impact.
- An XYZ Lifting Gantry System, complete with an electric chain hoist, for safe and efficient handling of equipment.
- Inlet chamber with penstocks to regulate the inflow of wastewater.
- Flow meter and chamber for monitoring and control.
- Chemical storage tanks and dosing system for the treatment of wastewater.
- An emergency generator to ensure continuous operation during power outages or emergencies.
Our Comprehensive Scope of Work
Right Group’s contributions to the project included a comprehensive scope of work, which involved:
- Contributing to the overall design and layout of the wastewater pumping station to ensure optimal functionality.
- Collaborating on detailed design drawings to bring the project to life.
- Providing specific design calculations for both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Developing a control philosophy to govern the operation of the entire system.
- Preparing schematics and layout drawings to guide construction and installation.
- Supplying the Motor Control Centre (MCC), instrumentation, and all associated cabling for a seamlessly integrated electrical system.
- Supplying and installing all pipework and valves, ensuring reliable and efficient flow management.
- Providing all necessary Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and automation components for enhanced system control.
- Conducting commissioning and rigorous testing to guarantee optimal performance.
- Delivering comprehensive handover documentation and as-built drawings for the seamless operation and maintenance of the facility.
